Evaluations
Comprehensive Evaluations:
Understand your child’s strengths and needs
A thorough evaluation gives you a clear picture of your child’s communication and oral motor skills, and helps guide the right plan for support.
What Is a Comprehensive Evaluation?
What it includes
When possible, standardized testing to compare your child’s skills to developmental norms
Informal observations during play and interaction
Parent/caregiver interview & history
Written report of findings and recommendations
Review of results with family
Why this matters
A detailed evaluation helps identify your child’s strengths and areas of need, and lays the foundation for a personalized therapy plan.
The written report can be shared with other medical or educational professionals that may be a part of your child’s team.
What to Expect During the Evaluation
Step 1 – Getting to Know Your Child
We’ll start with a parent conversation and observation to learn about your child’s strengths, challenges, and history.
Step 2 – Play-Based & Structured Activities
Your child will participate in engaging tasks and play while we assess speech, language, and/or feeding skills using both standardized tools and informal methods.
Step 3 – A Comfortable, Child-Centered Pace
Breaks are always allowed. We follow your child’s lead to keep the experience positive and supportive.
Step 4 – Clear Results & Next Steps
You’ll receive a written report and we’ll review findings together in plain language, including recommendations and whether therapy is advised.
